Morning all, the sun is out but brr it's cold with that cutting wind, it's 2 degrees but with that wind feels like -2 !
Today I'm going to change the bed but the bedding wash will wait till tomorrow, it's supposed to be a better day. The builder has text this morning saying hopefully he will be here tomorrow too, weather permitting, think he's as eager to finish the job as I am now. I have to send in my meter readings today that I took last night and we are still waiting for some of Mr Fix It's meds to arrive as they were OOS when they put up his script, nothing major and he's ok for now anyway.
We've had notification that our CT has risen by £5 per month 😟 but happily our water rates have fallen by £10. I did a sm shop online yesterday and nearly everything I wanted seems to have gone up by 10 to 25p ! It soon adds up doesn't it ? It must be very worrying for those who are already struggling.
Tea tonight will be a hm chicken curry from the freezer, with rice and naan bread, something to warm the cockles !
Right I must get that bed stripped as my jigsaw is calling me to look for pieces and then I'll do nothing else, I must resist !
Maddie sorry to read about DDog, it's always heart breaking when a pet is so poorly, they are such a big part of the family.
Nels thinking of you and Mum
NRA thinking of you and your Dad
Snoozer glad all the tests went well.
Scarlet are you ok ? Look after yourself and put your feet up.
TA my inventory lasted about 2 weeks as I kept forgetting to cross things off !
Take care all, hugs to the poorly ones and their family members, get well soon, look after yourselves.
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Morning all. Winter is back! When we went to bed last night there was a very hard thick frost covering roofs and cars and it's snowed on top of that during the night too. Right now the sun is shining and the sky is dazzlingly blue but I think there is more snow to come yet. I'm glad I don't have to go out anywhere today.
We've had a sausage sandwich for breakfast, there's soup and a crusty roll for lunch and corned beef hash for tea that I think will be calling for dumplings to be added. All good old fashioned winter meals to keep us warm. If we fancy a pudding there's fruit & jelly in the fridge.
I've done the audit of household spends for the last year and everything is in order. I just need to work out how to do the same again this coming year, easier said than done with everything going up in price.Over the year just gone I've been tracking how much I've not spent by using MOCs, buying YS/RTC and sale items, plus free delivery and it comes to a staggering £385.71. I've not done this before so that came as a very pleasant surprise - I wasn't expecting it to be anything like that. The spare coin jar has yielded just over £93 - more for the squirrel fund.
This afternoon I want to sew together the shoulder seams on a jumper I've been knitting so I can do the neckband tonight. I'm already thinking about what I can do next - I find it relaxing to knit (or sew) in the evenings. My yarn stash has gone down a lot but there's still a fair bit left. We don't really need any more jumpers or throws and I don't have any babies to knit for any more but I'm thinking of knitting some baby clothes or cot blankets that I can take to the local hospice for their summer fayre. Win-win for me and the hospice.
I hope everyone has a good day, or as good as you can, Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Mornng all. Just cannot get going today even though I jumped/staggered into the shower when I got up. I was too optimistic about showering and dressing yesterday and confused myself today thinking it was Friday. It's blummin cold today but at least the sun is shining for now, I've heard things blowing over outside already. I may light the fire if the temperature doesn't improve. So not much going on again today, just binge watching things, Pasta Grannies and Mi rancho a su cocina on youtube, The guardian page with the Ukraine war updates, Old Style and Bosch on prime. Flitting between all of them because of concentration or lack of. Going to have to find soemthing to cook for supper, I gave in last night and we had a local pizza takeaway [ lovely and thin, they have a wood oven so almost properly Italian], just couldn't do any cooking. I will do better today and look in the freezer. There are a couple of lasagne in there so we'll see.Mddie, sorry I missed replying to your original post, so sorry about DDog, it's the shock of coming in and not having them greet you or the empty bowls and hanging leads that cut deeply. TA, well done on the inventory upkeep! Coxy, sorry about your DH, hope your taste ad smell come back soon. snoozer, good news about Steve. Ruby, you're giving me ideas, I have buttermilk in the fridge [ probably ood] perfect for cheese scones [ also a favourite maddie!]
nanny, take is easy! Take care all, thinking of the people having a rubbish time andhoping for improvements....

Good afternoon all.
Nanny, thank you for asking, I've got a phone appt with the nurse practitioner tomorrow - I had one today, but didn't realise till too late that my phone was blocking her, as an unidentified caller.
I rang the surgery to rearrange and apologise, she'll ring tomorrow.
This started as a throat infection nearly 3 weeks ago, that's developed into a horrible cough and flu type symptoms.I kept feeling ok for a day or so, then would go downhill again. I simply can't throw it off, I'm sick of myself. Anyway, I'll be ok, it just seems to be dragging on.
Hope everyone is having a reasonable Thursday, take care folks12 -
Hugs to all in need of one.
I didn't post yesterday - very busy at SA friendship/lunch club - normal cook away and several volunteers missing.
Been to town for eye test - we have had rain/sleet/snow and hailstones in two hours. Very cold here with a north wind - feels like -2.
Mr F had his follow up appointment after the ear biopsy - they think the suspect tissue is left from an ear infection and will see him in 6 months. Today Mr F has a dental appointment.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
