Who pays for return postage?

Hi all, i bought an item online. When it arrived it looked different to the picture on the website plus they didn't mention some info regarding it. So the item is not as described. I got in touch with the company and asked to return the item for a full refund. In their terms and conditions says the buyer is responsible for return postage. I think its not right, they cant advertise misleadingly and then ask the buyer to pay for returning the item surely? If it was advertised correctly i would have not bought it in the first place. Please could someone advise whats right to do? Thank you. I bought it from an independent company, no ebay or any other marketplaces

Who is this independent company and what is the item?
If you want to return the item because you have changed your mind the T&Cs can say that you are responsible for return postage.
What does 'it looked different to the picture' mean?
What does 'they didn't mention some info' mean?

Hi, yes you are right. If the item is not as described, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you can return it for a full refund, including postage. Doesn't matter what their Terms and Conditions say.

See info in the following link under 'Delivery Rights - Returns'.

Yes, everyone knows that.  The question is whether it really is "not as described", which is what people are asking for clarification on.
