Dual energy accounts or separate gas and electricity suppliers

Whats now generally better dual or separate suppliers. Electricity standing charges in particular have large increase so wondered if that was a reason to consider this option.

All rather academic at the moment because most suppliers aren't accepting new customers, and if you have a fix that's ending it will be cheaper to do nothing and roll over to the capped Standard Variable Tariff, at least in the short term.

In the past it was often cheaper to have separate suppliers.

EON.Next have allowed me to transfer my gas supply to them, as I am already an electricity customer, and have put me on the SVR. The rates are the same as for my existing gas supplier, but I will get monthly instead of quarterly billing, and a better web based interface.
