Good Price comparison site for energy bills?
Hello all,
I am with OVO energy and like most people bills have gone up and well I do like OVO I have to look for something cheaper.
Can anyone recommend a good price comparison website please?
I did a search on https://www.moneysupermarket.com/ but got this result???
Due to the continued rise in wholesale energy costs, the price of the standard variable tariffs and the default tariffs are increasing from 1 April 2022. This is due to Ofgem’s price cap rising. And as a result, we have seen many suppliers withdraw their best and cheapest tariffs which means we can’t switch your energy tariff right now.
It did show me this however?
Thanks

The normal comparison websites have nothing to show as suppliers are generally not taking on switching customers due to the energy crisis.
Any fixed rate deals are generally a lot higher than the energy price cap coming in on 1st April so it is generally good advice when a current deal ends to go on the standard variable tariff that is protected by the price cap.1 -
If I do a search on the MSE Cheap Energy Club is still running but I just get three results currently, from OVO and Scottish Power as above. There were more options a month ago.

If those are the prices you are currently paying, then they are a very good deal.
Just make sure that your provider hasn't increased them since you took out the contract in 2018!2 -
OFGEM have a page on how the energy price cap may affect you. There is a table with current and prices from 1st April. From the prices you have quoted, you are paying less than the current price cap, never mind the price cap from 1st April. (By that I mean I looked at the unit price and not the standing charge).

So sit tight seems to be a good idea1 -
@blackstar Your gas and electric consumptions are on the high side of average - there may be savings to be had by some good housekeeping.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
