TBH many don't understand the term 'average', so no chance with the price cap itself!

It can't be 0% because there are people here who do!

There are some people in my area who seem to be either in complete denial about the price cap, or just don't understand the implications. Even some of my work colleagues don't fully understand about the price cap, unit rates of energy used, estimated and actual usage.

I can only assume that for years of paying bills and looking for cheap tenders, a lot of people- myself included - have never really looked at these particular components that make up our bills and usage. It's only now is the real shocking impact being felt and hence all the confusion and fuzzy thinking.

It's the people who don't know their consumption and don't understand the concept of consumption versus payment on account that worry me. Households with no idea of usage can't work out bills even if they understand the elements.
I don't think I've seen a single "my direct debit has tripled help!" post where the initial post has usage and tariff details.
My DD has tripled from £40 to £120, but my annual has only increased £550 to £1350 so not triple

    Easily 1-19%.

I think ofgem deliberately made it over simplified to confuse people.

Almost everyone I know thinks the quoted cap is an absolute cap, and they only care about their direct debit amount.

Biggest problem is that its called the wrong thing! It should be the Energy Rate Price Cap!

Its been around since Jan 2019 but too many people only see energy as a monthly amount and have not taken any interest in how the monthly amount is achieved! Also because for the vast majority its been affordable so again its not effected them.

Now the cost of energy has gone through the roof and they mistakenly believe they are protected by the Cap.
