Do either of you have hard evidence to show which of you is correct?I've always been highly suspicious about the granularity of the 'once per month' data collection claims. All the publicity seems extremely coy about the granularity, it always invites you to believe there's only one meter reading per month just as if you had read your meter with a torch on the last day of the month, but they're extraordinarily careful never to spell it out precisely.0

But even if it is only collected once a month the 30 minutes consumption totals are still submitted, but for example an application like Bright will only be updated once per month, but you can view the complete historic data after that.This isn't correct, the half-hour readings can only be collected with customer agreement.The customer gets to choose between monthly/daily/half-hour.If the customer does not give consent for half-hour then no half-hour data can be retrieved.If the customer does give consent then it is up to the supplier how often they retrieve it, and theoretically they could just retrieve it once a month, but that would be unusual.The daily register readings are held in a separate database on the meter from the half-hour data and other than a few beta tariffs like the ones from Octopus, the half-hour data is not used for billing so it would not be normal to try to reconstruct a meter register reading based on half-hour data.The register readings come from the register database on either a daily or monthly basis.There are specific provisions in the rules to allow a supplier to take a daily reading at other times even if restricted by the customer to monthly readings. This is typically for end of contract readings.1
