Cancelling your gas and removing your meter
Options
I cancelled my gas last October but British Gas are charging me a standing charge until the meter is removed the lead time for meter removal is 5 months.
British Gas insist that I will be charged until the meter is removed.
From a dialog with British Gas
I have gone through the policy for standing charges and as per the new update to this Customers are now liable to pay any standing charge accrued up until the meter is removed.
The end result is that the consumer is paying for the inability of the supplier to remove their hardware in a timely manor.
Thoughts comments very welcome

Latest info finally got a UK rep and they have sorted it out refund will be issued and the call centre I interacted with should not have treated me this way.
Makes you wonder why it could not have been sorted out on the first call I have wasted over three hours dealing with call centres that cannot do their job properly and the only way to get it resolved was to raise a complaint.
case closed I hope0 -

If you have your meter removed then eventually, your service will also be cut off /isolated by the gas transporter. Where is your meter located? Is the incoming service pipe steel or plastic?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Surely you can afford it if you live in a manor? 😂0
