Hi there. We are planning on renting a privately owned villa and wondered about insurances.

You mean letting a privately owned villa? You'd need the permission of the mortgage holder and buildings and contents insurance that will cover you to let it for commercial gain.
Without even knowing what country the villa is in, I don't think anyone can help further: there may be local or national requirements to comply with, such as fire regulations.No free lunch, and no free laptop
