Owning your own gas/leccy meters

Why would you want to do that? The meters still have to be registered on the National Database and suppliers are allowed to bill you a standing charge for the tariff that you are on.
Also, from The Association of Meter Operators website:
Quote: Smaller gas consumers are permitted to own (or to arrange for provision of) their own gas meter but must also ensure that it is properly maintained to ensure its safety and accuracy. A gas supplier may ask for evidence that the meter is properly maintained before agreeing to supply and use the meter readings for billing. Unquote5 -
Did you watch something on TikTok or Youtube that you are only charged for the meters by your supplier and that the energy is already paid from your taxes and is free?
We have been through this already repeatedly and it is just not true.5 -
Jessikes said:Has anyone here replaced their energy meters privately and if so how had that worked out for them please? Thanks in advance. You are self-educating from highly unreliable sources it seems, there is no truth to be found wherever you are reading about this stuff. No, you can't avoid paying for your energy by replacing your meter, and no you are not already paying for it via other taxation.

It might help if the OP came back to explain the reasoning behind their question. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
elsien said:It might help if the OP came back to explain the reasoning behind their question. It is just more of the nonsense from the freeman/sovereign movement, the claim is that the energy suppliers are just billing agents who pay nothing for the power and bill you because you have their meter on your property, so replacing their meter with one of your own frees you from any obligation to pay, as the energy cost has already been paid for by other taxes. We've had a few of these posted on here recently...

We have been through this already repeatedly and it is just not true.Yep I saw some woman on TikTok looking down on us mere mortals saying how we can virtually have it for free.I applied the too-good-to-be-true way of thinking to it & the assumption that if it was that simple then every man and his dog (Martin) would've laid it out by now.

I knew there was a reason I don’t use TikTok,All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
