Car parking fine Scotland
I just received a notice from Euro car parks that I have a £100 parking fine for using a car park and not paying. I work in a job doing deliveries and yes I did enter the car park but drove around doing my deliveries. I was not technically parked but was on the premises. Is it worth calling and explaining this or should I ignore it?

If it's Scotland then just ignore it. If you acknowledge it then they'll just spam you for longer.

This is not any kind of "fine" and Scotland is fully covered in the Newbies Sticky in the Parking Tickets subform. Please go and read it now.

As above ... currently* you can ignore a postal notice in Scotland. They cannot take a registered keeper to court, unless they can prove the keeper was the driver. And given that they can't claim costs for a claim under £300 using the Simple Procedure then they'd be fools to try a claim in Scotland for a single PCN.
* This is changing, as once the new Parking bill is fully effective (with the single appeals service in place) then POFA section 4 becomes effective in Scotland. We can "thank" Wee Jimmy for that. 🙄

Thanks guys, I know that Scotland means you can ignore it. I just wondered if it was worth calling them to explain what happened and if it would make a difference just to get them off my back but then realised it would probably cause more bother than good1

Nah, the company isn't interested in parking, just generating fines. And like any other scam, even acknowledging it tells them you think it has some validity and thus they'll try applying a bit more pressure to pay up.
If you get something from an actual court, then you can respond, but it's almost certainly not going to happen.

I've recently received a parking fine from a private company. What is the script with paying them now. Is it still the same, in that they cannot enforce them? Any help would be appreciated.0

Correct, just ignore the threat letters.

Yep, assuming it's in Scotland (and assuming it really is a private company, not a real fine from the police or local council) then just ignore it.At the moment in Scotland they can only pursue the driver, not the registered keeper - and you're under no obligation to tell them who was driving. You'll almost certainly receive several further letters threatening dire consequences if you don't contact them, but just ignore them.0

Yeah it was in a shopping complex. 20 mins over 3 hours at this time of year when the shops are just so busy is a bit off in my opinion. Thankyou for your response it's much appreciated0

It's entirely off - the parking companies exist only to generate invoices which scare people into paying up.
You can always fire off a complaint to the centre owners, your MP and MSP. Nothing will happen directly but with enough complaints it might eventually.
Make sure you don't identify the driver in said complaint though.
