Hi there
Hugs and thoughts to everyone who needs them.
I'm halfway through a period of self-imposed isolation to give me the best possible chance of getting a negative fit to fly Covid test next week for a trip to America. I'm insured to the eyeballs if it doesn't happen, but I will be absolutely gutted if I can't go. I was planning to go in April 2020, but then everything else happened...
My boss continues to be amazing. We're a team of 5 , working form home mostly. I will cover more days in the work office once I'm back, especially as our HoD is encouraging us to come back when we can.
We're eating down what we have (apart from new food for the Feline Commander, who the vet recommended we put on a higher nutrient diet) DH is doing his bit - he started WFH before I did. We did our shopping early on Saturday, and I haven't been out further than the garden since. The only bit I've really missed is going out to get the TGTG bags from a local garage/convenience shop which have kept the fridge and freezer filled.
Lunch will be sandwiches or maybe a jacket potato. I need to put a batch in the MW.
Dinner will be defrosted pork steaks (from TGTG) in whatever sauce I can rustle up.
I will be on DW and WM duties later, to keep on to of things. It will give me a break from the work screenface
Have your best possible Wednesdays everyone...Surviving the ups and downs of life with DH

Morning all, a bit late today but I have just been pottering about. The sun is shining here but we have rain/sleet/and snow forecast for later. Yesterday I used up some sprouting potatoes and made mash, half was eaten at teatime in cheesy mash with gammon and beans and the other half made a topping for a cottage pie as I found a nearly OOD tin of mince beef, that meal is now in the freezer for another day. I realised last night the reason why I was so lethargic yesterday, seems I took my night meds in the morning again ( same meds just double the dose) for goodness sake they're even in a daily pill box but I must have opened it upside down 🤔 I have a few jobs to do today, clean out a kitchen cupboard used for sauces and condiments as it looks like something has been leaking, looking for some sugar soap, I'm sure there's some somewhere, then do some mending on a pair of joggers and finally doing an online sm shop. Oh ! and take meter readings and send them in. Such excitement eh ?
Mr Fix It is sore but fine ( thanks for asking Camelot and taff ) and has taken himself off to the spare bedroom/craft room to get on with DGD's stables, he's now doing the tack room part. I fancy some fish and chips for tea tonight, himself will have chicken as he's fish allergic.
dreamyd Hello !
Sending healing vibes to all the poorly ones or family members and hugs to anyone in need.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently9 -
Good afternoon all, had a little weak sunshine today, rain was forecast for noon, but not arrived as yet.
SM shop had a couple of OOS, things I ticked as no sub, may have to divert that way on Saturday morning to see if local version (smaller) of the SM has them.
Have very nervously sent a wodge of money to PBs as my inheritance from DM arrived a few days ago, keeping it there for now, rates not good enough yet to do much else with it and not the best at that sort of money stuff.
Had nice chats with bestie and one of my DBs yesterday so that was cheering and did another patch of weeding in back garden.
A bit weepy today 'cos of DDawg and also another family who are going through a similar thing and devastated, also listed to Donna Ockendon's live broadcast on our local radio, (I am a Shropshire resident) just all too awful.
Sending hugs and healing thoughts to all who are poorly, their loved ones and others rather overwhelmed with life ATM
Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)10 -
Afternoon all. Much colder here today after light rain overnight. We had a short flurry of snow about an hour ago and tonight we're forecast snow/hail with freezing temperatures from 10pm to 10am. Grr.
SM delivery duly arrived yesterday and surprise, surprise, I got the 4pts of ordinary milk, not the subbed organic. The driver said quite a few customers had been told they were getting subs when they weren't - someone must have pressed the wrong button! I decided to make my weekly Co-op trip anyway in view of the weather forecast for later in the week. I used 2 membership MOCs, 50p on sausages and 25p on hot cross buns. These latter were on offer at 2 packs for £1.50 instead of £1.70 so in the end I paid £1.25 for 8 buns. One pack is in the freezer for later.
I made soup this morning, a minestrone, from some chicken stock and odds and ends of veg and chucked in a handful of broken pasta bits towards the end of the cooking time, so there's 4 portions that will do us for a couple of lunches. I've 2 red peppers and 2 carrots that need using up as well, so tomorrow I'll do a tomato & red pepper soup with those that can go in the freezer for next week. I think I can just about squeeze that in.
Last day of the month tomorrow and also the end of my budgeting year so I'll be comparing what we've spent over the last 12 months with the previous year. I'll also be cashing up the spare coins that go into a jar, whatever there is will go into the squirrel fund. And another exercise I've been doing this last year is logging how much I've saved by various means - ys/rtc, MOCs, sale, free delivery etc. It will be interesting to see the results. Sometimes, I feel like I'm running a business not a household!
TA - I'm sorry to hear your friend's results were worse than expected so it's good she has supportive friends.
Coxy - Ouch to those BG figures! Are they working that out to include the next round of price increases in October as well as next month's? It's frightening.
Get well soon wishes to the poorly among us and hugs to anyone who needs or just wants one. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
I thought when I read the thread this morning that I must have missed a couple of posts/forgotten things, just looked back and I have missed Monday afternoon and all day yesterday
, all caught up now though.
