I’ve just had all my windows replaced from wood single glazed sash to double glazed upvc sash windows with some trickle vents.
i have already received my FENSA cert but today I’ve received a request to inspect the installation on behalf of FENSA by a company called RISA.

Not a fan of red tape, I’m convinced that a RISA inspection might open up a can of worms which I might regret … not sure exactly what but maybe it’s a defective installation and the FENSA cert gets revoked and I have the hassle of having further work done - I’m halfway through painting all the architrave etc so it would be a pain …
has anyone had any experience, good or bad, about a similar inspection that would be of interest to help me decide whether to brave one or not …
thanks

Ignore it, they have no legal right and you have your certificate, absolutely nothing they can do. BUT this only applies if you're happy with what you've got.
Basically they are checking the installers work, FENSA check installers from time to time.0 -

I have almost the same situation, though I've not got my FENSA cert yet. Do I have to let RISA inspect in order to get the FENSA cert? I'd rather not, as we have a lot going on at the moment with prepping the house for selling, so its not really convenient.0

I'd like to think that people would pleased to have extra little layer of reassurance that what they have is safe!Fensa is a self-certification scheme. It's unlikely that members of the scheme would be throwing in any old rubbish but you are purely going on their word that they have done what they said.I don't imagine that anyone will be revoking certificates, it will be a spot check to confirm that their members do what they say they will.I can't imagine it would take very long at all. I wouldn't go out of my way, but if I happened to be at home when they asked, I'd be happy to.The people that renovated the Grenfell Tower weren't fans of red tape either. Sometimes we need it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If ever you come to sell the property being able to say " registered and inspected" would not sound to bad in the property description.0

Some people value a bit of paper but are seemingly not bothered if the bit of paper is worth the bit of paper its written on. Which to me is odd considering it will be connected to home improvements that will have cost thousands of pounds.
Any self certification scheme requires some form of quality control follow up to maintain the integrity of the process.
When my new central heating was installed earlier in the year the heating engineer mentioned that I may receive a follow up contact from the boiler manufacturer as they do random spot checks to make sure the work undertaken meets the required standard.
If I am contacted do I have to allow such a visit, my answer is no, should I allow the visit because I think it's the right thing to do and maintains the integrity of the bit of paper I hold, my answer is yes.
