I saw this statistic in a news article, I haven't just made it up.
Just trying to help cut people's energy bills with some 'helpful' tips.  Not welcoming loads of challenge on my first ever post!
Descaling will help cut the cost too.
    Reach Media by any chance?

My WFH tip: get a heated throw and knock the central heating down a few degrees. My only regret is not getting one sooner.
  • Well it so happens that I filled a flask this morning…. Octopus were running a “reduce your energy by 40% between 9-11am challenge”
I got 4 cups of coffee out of it.
I usually boil a kettle & I’m sure that I waste at least a cup of boiled water on each boiling cycle… so I reckon I saved (in total) 0.4KWh or 10p at my current rate.
I have several spare flasks, and in aggregate I saved time too.

Unfortunately, you can't believe everything that you read & there are rarely things that work for 100% of the population.
As for me, my kettle has no minimum & will boil exactly what I need ( ~300-330ml) when I need it.

You will also find that, as a moneysaving site, many tips have been raised & discussed previously.

people are so unkind.  Ignore if you like but no need to be rude.  I’m out
Who was unkind or rude?  Unfortunately you were factually incorrect; why shouldn't this be noted?
someone implying that the tea wouldn't taste nice, someone else implying my facts are wrong.  I will contact the Express newspaper now on behalf of everyone on this thread and get them to amend the article that I saw this on and I will never post again.
They're not being horrible just by telling you that you're wrong. I don't see any name calling here.
If you're wrong then you're wrong, nothing wrong with that. They've showed the maths.

Unfortunately, don't trust news articles. THEY'Re the ones making things up, especially to prey on those desperate to save money. Literally most of the "studies" they publish are just paid ads. The rest are just made up for slow news days.

Nothing wrong with trying to help, but it's a GOOD thing that people counter fake news (by the "news"), so in this case you're not messing with thermoses and simply boiling your kettle as normal.
  • Try the breville Hot Cup, got one a few months ago and will never go back to a normal kettle. You only boil what you need, no wasted lecccy or water.

We had one a few years back but that model never really dispensed boiling water for a good cup of tea. Great for instant coffee though👍
