Debt collectors, ex girlfriend, my house

She moved out 3yrs ago, I have a big stack of mail but no forwarding address,  although I know the shop where she works.   Debt collector called for her today,  I suspect she has run up multiple debts.  Could this affect me in any negative way?  I don't think they accept work addresses,  but I'd like them to catch up with the old bat!
What options do I have

You know.... how dare she use my address,  and all that
  • If you're not forwarding the mail then surely you should just return all the mail as "not at this address", how else are they not going to know she's there?

Are you saying that she is currently using your address to take out credit? It could be that these are old debts from when she lived there that are being chased.

As for the letters, probably best to stick them straight back in the post "not known at this address".

  • If the shop is local, I'd take the whole lot there (making sure there's some customers in) dump it on the counter and loudly tell her that a debt collector's been round and you'll be sure to send him/her to this shop on the next visit . Failing that, as others have said, chuck it back in the post with address not known/the shop's address.

Debts are tied to individuals, not addresses, so it makes no odds either way.

I messaged her on Facebook 2 months ago that it might be time to update the companies with her new address, she replied with a thumbsup, and blocked me!  Her mail dried up for a while,  I assume she paid to have it rerouted, then it started arriving again, followed by that debt collector.
Relieved that it won't affect my address, I'll just write GONEAWAY on everything now.
    Thanks everyone
