I’m aiming for a NSD today as I’ve already spent £30.28 on human food and toiletries in April and I’m trying to cap it at £10 per day 😬
I defrosted the freezer yesterday 🥶 and found loads of food that I’d forgotten about (I think we had about 6 bags of quorn nuggets open, is there a trick to finding things/keeping track in chest freezers?!) so I’m going to make a mishmash of random things I found in the freezer for dinner tonight 😅Debt was £15,903 😬 Now £2718.14 £0 😲🥳3 -
@GreenCat80 - I use carrier bags to keep similar things together - eg separate bags for burgers, sausages, chicken breasts, chicken thighs, joints etc. I've also got small baskets across the bottom which are much easier to get to by moving the carrier bags.
It still needs tidying up from time to time but it's definitely better than just bunging it all in!6 -

RandomOne saidI'm wondering if I should put my pet food & cleaning products under a separate category, as I always use my grocery budget for it. I don't spend much on cleaning (hot soapy water is my usual go-to) but the cat costs about £15 a month. What do other people do?
I'm keeping track separetly as I don't actually know how much we spend on food, litter etc or how long that lasts. We have had issues getting our usually brands so had to buy VERY expensive sometimes. I'd like to make sure we are getting the best price as these are regular things which make a difference on our spending.Grocery challenge June £241.19/£320
July £200.61/£2153 -

Yesterday spent £21.01 at MrT. £18 on Easter eggs (which I may take out of another budget if I can decide which one), cat treats (70p) and 4 big YeoValley whole milk cartons which were YS at 77p each. Froze 2, 1 in the fridge.
I had planned to do an online shop this weekend with MrA as I got the FSM vouchers and they work online there. But DH had to take DS1 to one of the towns so I tagged along and we did the food shopping in MrT and Aldo (made the 30 mile round trip feel more useful!). Discovered brown rice is 46p/kg more expensive in MrT than Aldo (after I bought a 2kg bag in MrT) so I really need to keep a price book as clearly my brain can't be trusted.
£14.57 in MrT (2 loaves of GF bread for DH plus tins that I couldn't trust to be in stock in Aldo but actually were).
£60.11 in Aldo.

Afternoon all,
I'm not separating too many categories as I know rom experience I'll stop altogether if it gets too complicated. I am going to keep track of how much we spend on alcohol though, although for now I'm lumping it in with the main grocery budget anyway.
£6.99 spend to report today - fruit, reduced kefir as a treat for Mr Cheery, and a couple of bottles of beer.5 -
