Racing pigeon found

Last week I found a racing pigeon in my garden, which had died. It had a slight injury on the inside of its wing but looked in very good condition otherwise. It was tucked away so looks like it was seeking shelter.
I had tried tracing the owner with the Royal Pigeon Racing Association but they did not recognise the number on the ring, it was not issued by them. There was no number stamped on the wings.
I thought this would be a good place as any for the owner to find this. In case it should ever reach them, the left leg had a yellow ring with the number GB 2021 0031506, and the right leg had a green ring with the number 021. It was found in South Bucks.

Are you aware that all dead birds should’ve reported to DEFRA due to current bird flu outbreak.4

Hi, here's the number for the Defra helpline - 03459 33 55 77. They say they will collect dead birds and take them away for testing.
Some more info about avian flu. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/avian-influenza-bird-flu.
Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. DEFRA might also have a better idea of identifying the owner as well (access to more databases perhaps)?Thank you for caring and bothering. I dread to think what would happen should a bird get in our courtyard.May you find your sister soon Helli.
Sleep well.1 -
Thanks for your comments, I had heard about it but not put the two together. I will give the helpline a ring in the morning and see what they say.0
