Our small business is still using an old version of Sage Accounts (2014) which is adequate for our needs. I do not want to upgrade or change.
That said.... I have spent this morning making lots of product records zero so I can delete obsolete stock.
I have successfully run 'delete transactions' for the items and then tried to delete them to tidy up our records.
It won't let me do this, it asks me to back up but after that the items are still there I have no idea why.
Has anyone got any suggestions why this might be please?
Thank you

You do not say if you tried rerunning the delete process after the backup. If not try running it again now that you have a backup.
The fact that Sage is saying to take a backup would make me think that it might be expecting you to do the backup through Sage (so that it can detect that a backup has been done). Did you do this or did you do a general backup outside of Sage ... can you even do one within Sage?
You could also check that your system date and time are set correctly.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!1 -
Thank you IvanI ran the back up within Sage.I now begin to think that because I removed stock by using the 'stock take option' it is counted as a 'transaction' and this is why the items can't be removed as I used a current date. I daren't risk loosing transactions on current stock.Thank you for responding0

I tried again yesterday and managed to do it!It must have been because it treated my 'stock take' as a transaction. Once I'd deleted those, it let me remove the 1600+! items. This was purely a computer tidy up exercise not real stock.0
