I doubt the OP has missed out as I'd have thought the likelihood of anyone offering to fix a single part failure on a six year old, 90,000 mile  car after the buyer has driven it for an extra five months and 6,000 miles are pretty slim.
    You are probably entirely correct.
One day, someone will be surprised by such a "goodwill gesture" being readily forthcoming.

The OP has also, presumably, benefitted from a lower price buying this car from an independent Dealer offering a shorter warranty compared to buying from a Mercedes Dealer offering the more comprehensive "approved used" scheme.

I doubt that would cover a plastic part failing at almost 100,000 miles.

I will expect it on the day I see someone walk into a  car dealer and say "Hey, that car I bought last year is much better than I expected, here's an extra £500"
