Car boot

Mazda 5, 2013.  Issues with boot in December, couldn’t open it.  Took it to garage, they stripped it.  Found the micro SD car had water damage, and needed a new catch.  Asked them to check seal on wiper, which was split.  That seemed like entry route for water.

Now boot was working perfectly well until the other day, can’t open it.  It’s the same issue.  It happened after I washed my car using normal hose.   Obviously it’s hard to detect water getting in.

I’m reluctant to take it to the same garage, as last time I paid £350.  New catch, micro SD card £30 and labour £60.  Need advise on what to do, should have just took it to Mazda.

Need some good advice.

Google suggests disconecting the battery for a system reboot or testing for a poor battery. The leak might not be the problem.

Ok, I did replace the battery about two years ago.  All the other doors function, just the boot.

I've got one door which fails to unlock but only in the winter which I suspect is damp in the connections inside the door. I sometimes activate the locking repeatedly with the engine running which occasionally works. When you get it open try removing the inner panel and lubricating all the moving parts. This solved a locking problem on a rear door.
I'd phone the garage you paid to fix this. After spending £350 I'd expect it to be resolved and not to reoccur within months.
Try the Mazda forums, it might be a common fault with a known fix.

So many people complain at the cost of a repair that fails in a short time yet fail to consider that the part/repair actually carries a warranty.
