Civil service online training

Hi,
I have been offered a temporary civil service role, I found it through a recruitment agency.
customer service/admin role.

I have to do online training for a week, if I pass I will start job.
All security checks, references and DBS are done.

scared $hitless right now!
Don’t know what to expect.
Has anyone gone thru this?
Any advise?
pointers?
tips? Welcomed

thanks

I’m amazed that you got offered a CS position without having to navigate the hideous civilservicejobs “service” and the various hurdles that need to be jumped to get to an offer stage. How did you apply then, just through an external agency? Lucky! I’ve worked though a few of the tests set by the posts I was applying for, painful.

This is soo true. And they wonder why there is thousands of civil service jobs unfilled.

Well, technically I haven’t got the  job, I have to pass the training first.

Just literally pass training? Is that definitely what they’ve told you, or do you have CS jobs assessments to take? I suspect it’s going to end up being things like the ‘Logical Reasoning’ and maybe ‘situational judgement’ there are maths ones and others too , Google for YouTube videos and you’ll see examples. Practice with whatever examples look like they fit the level you’ll be working at. When you have access to the civil service job service portal you’ll get links for relevant videos and practice tests. More practice will give a better likelihood of passing.

It's a temporary job, an agency contract used to fill gaps short term.

If the OP wants to be a Civil Servant (proper) they'll need to go through civil service jobs as an external candidate.

I'd imagine the training will be really straightforward though - nothing to worry about.

    Thanks.
I did civil service work many many years ago as a temp thru an employment agency and it was just references and security check and started work.
This has thrown me a bit,😬
I didn’t realised  how ‘crazy’ the recruitment process is now for permanent staff.

hopefully I just need to past training and I will get a temp job
  • If it's just mandatory training then you have nothing to worry about

Not all of it is crazy, but there has been a rise in the number of jobs requiring a test as part of the application process.

The interview stage often requires policy exercises or presentations as part of the deal, even for existing CS

Do you get paid for the week's training if you don't pass it, given that you say you will only start the job if you pass?
