It’s a great little fitness watch for not that much money, with loads of silly features that I don’t use. Why doesn’t it let me set the time forward or back an hour without using the app?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It does it automatically via a bluetooth connection and the app on your phone that is how it (and similar) work. As for all the silly features you do not use neither does anyone else I know.

Because "not that much money". Just needs to connect to app to reset (did mine this AM).1

I’m not welded to my phone. It’s downstairs in a drawer somewhere. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Brilliant! You'll be oblivious to British Summer Time starting and so get extra hour in bed!GDB2222 said:I’m not welded to my phone. It’s downstairs in a drawer somewhere.1 -

Yes, of course. I was just expressing exasperation that it works the way it does, as that is not the way I want it to work, and they could extremely easily include my way as an alternative.Grey_Critic said:GDB2222 said:Why doesn’t it let me set the time forward or back an hour without using the app?Som what happens with your computer - that automatically registers the time anbd adjust for BST/Daylight Saving.Anyone else besides me get the impression the question is more to do with provoking a reaction amd is rather pointless - The OP admits knows how it works. No reliance should be placed on the above! Don't think anyone thought otherwise.Anyone else besides me get the impression the question is more to do with provoking a reaction amd is rather pointless - The OP admits knows how it works.
I guess some people may not realise the difference between "fitness bands" (cheap, basic watch plus sensors and bluetooth) and "smart watch" (not cheap, small mobile computer/phone for wrist).0 -
Computers and electronic devices that communicate with each other require the time to be set accurately and synchronised for many reasons.GDB2222 said:

Leaving it up to a human to set the time manually would cause all sorts of problems for the end user of such devices, so it is a great step forward in technology terms to carry out automatic and accurate updates to the time. Preventing the end user from over-riding the time / date settings prevents more problems than it creates.
Devices like smart watches are designed to be in regular contact with a phone, if you don't like that then you have bought the wrong product. You don't need to be "welded to your phone" for it to be within Bluetooth range.
If adjusting the time manually is so important to you, then don't buy a smart watch. But surely the benefits of a smart watch throughout a whole year outweigh the 2 occasions that that clocks change significantly each year?

Why does my 15 yr old DAB radio happily reset its clock twice a year but my 3 yr old, DAB & Bluetooth enabled, Peugeot needs me to fight with the worst interface ever implemented to not-quite reset the right time?0

An alternative to using your phone? Thats madness, phones are all that matter, there'll be an app to explain it to you.
