We are trying to make the amount we pay each towards our bills more equal. As a couple without children, living together. He earns more than me but currently we pay half each towards bills into our joint account which leaves me with very little left each month. We pay ours proportionally (well not quite as I pay a bit more) We basically worked out what % of our household income we earned, and then we paid that proportion of the bill payments.

I earn more, so I pay almost 60% of bills.

We are married though and we don't have a joint account.
