Spray painting Upvc

What's everybody's opinion/experience of this?

I have always been pretty sceptical about it's durability etc. but we are in the process of getting our gutters and downpipes changed from white to black and the guy who is doing it suggested that we get someone to paint the soilstack and associated pipework to match the rainware.

Would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

As long as you choose a paint that's designed for this material, then it should adhere with no issues. And, it doesn't tend to get scuffed or abraded, so should last yonks.

Google 'paint for PVC' and see what comes up. If you get a brush/roller type paint, it'll likely be a much thicker coating than spraying, so should last longer. A foam miniroller should give a very good finish, and you'll likely want it in a 'satin' finish?

I've done a front door with Zinsser Allcoat. I'll be doing a double garage door with it at some point this year too. Good results with 3 light coats sprayed
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!

And a thorough clean - perhaps even wire-wool or similar - of the shiny surface would make sense. Basically, follow the instructions :-)

Zinsser Allcoat, great paint. But best if the PVC is not new: leave to age outside for a year or two. (In my experience anyway: I am not sure if this is because new PVC is still giving off volatiles, or if aging causes micro-abrasions which aid paint adhesion)

    Probably both
I'd certainly also wire-wool or brush it too. Done properly, this should last a good number of years. It would be soul-destroying if it actually peeled off in places.
