I'm with british gas for gas only and pay £25.03 per month direct debit which is accurate for my usage.

If i stay on variable my unit charge will be 7.226p per kWh and standing charge will be 27.220p per day.

I have been offered fix til 30th April 23 which my unit charge will be
9.933p and standing charge will be 34.069p.

Should i fix or stay on variable?

If the majority of your gas use is over winter then you could regard the price difference for the fix to be insurance against a large increase in October.
What is the exit fee on that fixed tariff?

That seems a pretty high exit fee.
I'd be tempted to stay on a variable tariff and gamble on the October increase.

    Thank you

Is it likely gas could go as high as 10p per kWh and 35p standing charge in october?

It's possible, but depends on geopolitics so it's hard to say how likely.

Decided to stay on variable. I worked out it would cost me £90 extra over the next 6 months on fixed. The price cap would have to go up alot in october to make up for that amount the following 6 months
