Just out of interest, where are you proposing the income from SDLT comes from instead?

There are plenty of properties on the market for under £300k suitable for all buyers (includes first time buyers). Right Move has kicked up 124 2+ beds within 10miles of my location in South of England or 1087 within 40 miles 1+ beds.

I'm not trying to be negative, obviously we all want as much as we can get for free. But it's this more a localised campaign? Goodluck with the petition.

I'm assuming you also petitioned for this when it didn't affect you?

    No thanks.
The government needs more money than ever at the moment. Where do suggest that tax is increased to compensate if your proposal were to happen?

It's a no from me. I didn't agree with the last cut, even if I did benefit. The money has to come from somewhere & the housing market definitely doesn't need any more stimulation at the moment.

Changing SD thresholds will do little for house prices. Interest rates are a far more effective mechanism to take the heat out of the market.
  • Another no from me as well - we reduce anymore taxes and there’s not enough money for health and social . What will those who need it do instead?

There are lots of taxes in this country most people pay.
Income Tax, National insurance tax, Student Loans ( which is a 9% tax), Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance tax, VAT, Corporation Tax, Stamp Duty Tax etc.
I often find how the government spends our taxes crazy and stupid but that is something you need to hold them accountable for.
I work for the NHS which is staggering expensive to run however I still believe we have the best FREE health service in the world.
The Americans spend twice as much per person but people in America without Health Insurance are literally dying for want of medication ( think diabetics ) liver failure, Heart problems, etc

Stamp duty also benefits the FTB as well. We shouldn't be making it more competitive when it's hard enough already to enter the market
