Hi everyone,
Well, we had a very eventful night. I woke at 3.45 to the most tremendous crash, it sounded like a whole tray of crockery being smashed. I went downstairs to find Steve lying in the hall surrounded by the shards of the shower room mirror. Apparently he got up because he was coughing and came downstairs. He went to the loo, stood up and blacked out, putting out his hand to catch the mirror and ripping it off the wall along with the circular light tube behind it. He must have hit his head on the sink or door jamb though because he has a big gash just above and through his left eyebrow. I took one look and knew it needed stitches so we went off to hospital, even the nurse gasped when he revealed the extent of the damage. They did a pcr test because of his cough, negative so that's a niggle laid to rest finally. They've also done an ecg to check it wasn't his heart causing him to keel over and a head CT. I think they're also going to X-ray his chest to see if he needs another course of antibiotics. I was able to stay with him while they triaged him but was then sent home so I'm now waiting for a call to say he's ready to come home.
Gers, sorry about your hip, hope it can be sorted. As to the cataracts, I was told several years ago that I had the beginnings but they haven't progressed at all. They can also operate much earlier than they used to - I remember my grandma being virtually blind before they operated on hers, that doesn't happen nowadays.
Poppy, that sounds painful, on top of everything else, gentle hugs to you.
Nelski, I hope that you are ok, let us have news of your mum when you can.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning all, seems it may be the last day of sunshine for us so the wm is on and next I'll wash the fleece throws from the lounge, we use them to keep us warm on chilly evenings so they could do with a freshen up. I'm still coughing but I slept all night and I feel a bit more human today, so I want to clean the bathroom and tidy the freezer, which is suffering from messy elf syndrome, then the day is my own, having said that I think I'm teaming up with Mr Fix It on the X box later 😏 I'll ring Dad tonight too, I hope he's feeling better and he's in a more talkative mood.
The builder stayed late yesterday and worked till after 5pm ( it's usually an early finish on a Friday ) and I felt it was too late for me to cook ( wink) so we ordered a takeaway instead, happily there's plenty left for today's tea too.
Gers hope they can sort out your hip problem asap.
Snoozer hope Steve is ok and is home soon, hugs to you both
Anyone seen Bella lately ?
Hugs to all the poorly ones and anyone having a difficult time.
Take care all, stay safe

It seems as if there might be a problem with the electrical impulses in his heart which caused him to faint. He's got to have an echocardiogram and has been told not to drive until he's given the all clear. Apparently it may have been caused by his chemo.8

Gers, could your wonkiness be a result of your old hip compensating for your other before you had your op?
Snoozer, glad the hospital have got to the bottom of Steve's blackout, that must have been scary for both of you x2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Oh Snoozer what a dreadful night you have had, and your poor OH ,try to catch up and relax let the housework go hang for a day or two.
Had a lovely natter and coffee and bannoffee squidgy cake with DGD Holly this morning.Bless her, she's had a sad few months as one of her colleagues who she drove to the school Christmas do said he didn't need a lift home as it was only 10 minutes walk from the venue so she drove home and her colleague was killied in a hit and run .Poor chap was only 26 and about to move into a flat with his girlfriend at Christmas. Holly said she felt awful as she should have insisted but he kept saying its no problem you get off home as she had to go in to opposite direction. The caught the car involved, but a young teachers life was cut off just as it was beginning. The funeral is not until May as there is an ongoing court case. So sad for everyone involved.
But I think I managed to cheer her up a little and we enjoyed our natter then had a walk around the deli part of Dobbies and I got a huge tray of a dozen lamb chops for £15.00 and she got a big tray of Gloster Old Spot sausages for a tenner. The butcher part in Dobbies is run by a great team who buy meat from a local farmer so you know its local produce with no miles travelled.
Just about to make a quick salad for lunch and tonights dinner is Sheppards pie from the freezer. I also bought 8 chocolate chip y/s brioches reduced to 37p which have been portioned up and in the freezer. So quite a successful morning .Picked up some new library books on the way home so this afternoon its feet up and a good read for me
DD and son-in-law are enjoying the sunshine sitting outside their caravan in Deal and said they will probably have a long walk later . Not NYC, but at least a change of scenery and some fresh air and relaxation will do them both good

Hello everyone, I have several days of posts to catch up on, but just dived into todays.
Snoozer gosh what a shock you both had, good that the medics think they have a handle on it. Poppy that must be so sore, but have a lovely time with your family. Gers not a nice surprise about your hips, hope the investigations happen soon for you. Hugs also to all who are poorly or worried about dear friends and relatives.
We went off on holiday early Tuesday afternoon, but had to cut it short and pack to return home on Thursday, Dear Dog was poorly and we managed to get an appointment with favourite Vet yesterday, sadly it is as we feared and the mass on her liver is growing and causing quite a few problems. In many ways she is happy, playful and bright. We have had a wonderful 18 months since original diagnosis, but now just have to see how long she will go on before we have to take the difficult path that will be best for her. Been there many times before with members of furry family, but doesn't get any easier.
Off to do a little weeding while OH is grass cutting to make the best of the last day of our false summer spell.
Hugs and spoons and Happy Mother's day where applicable, another "first" for me and my siblingsThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)8 -
Afternoon all. Like others, I'm enjoying the good weather while it lasts and have been working the WM to death, washing everything in sight. Dust bunnies have been ejected too - the sun seems to show them up so much more easily, to the point where I can't ignore them any more.
Oh dear, there are so many on here having health issues and setbacks at the moment, be it Covid, general sniffles, eye/hip problems, caring for loved ones, falls, cancellation of plans or anything else. My heart goes out to you all and I'm sending buckets of get well soon/good wishes to one and all.
I've been doing a review of food stocks (again) in readiness for next week's delivery and have decided to concentrate on building up cupboard stores as they're getting a bit low. I usually save my loyalty points for non-grocery extras but there's nothing I really need right now so I'm going to use some points each time I have a food delivery. That way, the cash I'm not using can go into the squirrel fund, aka next year's energy bill DDs.
It will be nice to have more daylight hours once the clocks have gone forward tonight but I know it's going to take my body clock a few days to adjust and I could will be a bit grumpy for a couple of days. I'm not a happy bunny when my sleep pattern is disrupted, especially as I'm more of a night owl rather than a lark.
Right, I'm off back to the spare bedroom to continue sorting out the fabrics stash. I've done the "what I'm keeping" and the "what's going" but the "undecided" has ground to a halt. I must decide one way or the other, otherwise it will continue to be a niggle.
Take care and have a good weekend. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Hugs to all in need.
Lovely day here but warm when we left home at 7.30 am and a bit chilly when we walked home at 5.30. I had to run the SA table top sale on my own as my friend has Covid. Not many people came in to browse and buy today but we made £340 so very pleased. Came home and just dumped all my bags in my craft room to sort tomorrow. Will have an early night after a busy day and the hour we will lose.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
