Supplier refusing to remove prepayment meter
Hi,
I moved to a rented property in December, having had a credit meter with SSE for 12 years in my previous property. They refused to take on the meter as it was a prepayment meter. So I had to move to the company that had the account to the meter, eon-next. I have been requesting to have a credit meter installed instead since I moved in. I have no energy debt and good credit rating.
First I was told I was on the list but then in February I was told that eon-next had made the business decision not to remove any prepayment meters. This is despite their website stating they still do it. Today I have been told again that my request to be credit checked and have a credit meter installed has been refused. Any advice as just don't know what to do next?
Thanks

They are offering a smart prepayment version but no other supplier will take on someone with a prepayment meter. Already tried.0

Once you've got one of those, it should simply be an administrative change to change to a credit account.(Caveat: I've never actually done this. Others might be able to give insight to the process.)N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. OK, thanks will look into this. Not sure why they're not considering offering this if it's that straightforward.0

Suppliers are only fitting smart meters nowadays and for good reason .Once that is in place its simple to switch between credit and prepay mode. Once its installed you may find its in credit meter mode anywaySkyed13 said:OK, thanks will look into this. Not sure why they're not considering offering this if it's that straightforward.0 -
Did you have any luck getting this changed. I’ve just moved in to a house with a prepayment meter and I’m getting the same response from eon next. Just a flat no, even though I’m an existing customer who has had a credit meter.
it’s been a nightmare. The smart ‘pay as you go’ meter stopped working and they had to replace them will a card and key meter. So I will have to top up at the shops... (never had a prepaid meter before!) they fitted them yesterday and this evening all the power has gone off again 🤦🏼♀️ 🤷♀️ So I’ve another call to them to look forward to tomorrow....0
