No payment been taken for car lease deal for 5 months. HELP!

The leased car was delivered before the finance deal was settled. After a month or 2 no money had been taken from my account. Chased this up and filled the finance documents in another twice and sent back to the company. The second time this was knocked back. After the third one i did not hear back from the company. 3 months later they still have not taken payment from me. I have emailed the company with no reply. Where do i stand with this? Any help appreciated. Thank you!

Presumably you know what the payments should have been and kept the funds safe so you will have the money ready to just pay when the admin catches up.   Easy peasy.
  • Is this a common occurrence? Will admin catch up?

Unlikely - it's more likely that you'll get to keep the car for free.
Or .... they may catch up and expect the back-payments.  Which do you think is the more likely scenario?
I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a common occurrence, but it's certainly not unheard of.  Have you tried phoning them and actually speaking to someone?

Happened to me a couple of years ago, the car was delivered, I let the leasing company know I was happy with it and waited for the finance company to take the first payment. After a couple of months nothing had been taken, so I contacted the finance company directly and they claimed they were waiting for the leasing company to confirm the car had indeed been delivered. Took another month or so to get the finance company to take the missing payments.

Keep a close eye on your credit files to make sure that they are not registering missed payments.

Calling them would definitely be the next step for me. In the mean time make sure the funds are being kept to one side to catch up the payments when they demand them.
  • Nothing on my credit files so finance not been agreed yet.
