Car broken down - what next?

My car has literally just died. The injector had popped off, oil everywhere, bolts snapped etc. I've left it beside an entrance to a farmers field, on some grass for tonight.

It's not obstructing any road or entrance in anyway. I put a note in the window saying ive broken down and will move asap.

My question is, can the car be removed by a tow truck, police etc? I'm still insured and the car has tax and mot. I've got no money until next week, so cant call private garage to remove it. The car is nackered, and will be scrapped but I am in work for the next couple of days so don't know how I can get the scap man to pick it up when I cant be there.

Any advice? Assuming it's not set fire to or smashed up over night! Thanks

Are you sure you have't got breakdown cover with your insurer?

I would contact a couple of local car (scrap) buyers and get valuations.  They will also collect and don't necessarily need you there to recover the car

If the police remove it then there maybe costs involved.

If it's going to be scrapped, call a local scrapyard and ask if they can pick it up.  They all have trucks for picking up cars that can't be driven to them.

They will take into account their time picking the car up when deciding how much to pay you for the car.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Thanks all. Managed to get someone to tow it back to my house. Got a scrappy coming for it on Monday.

    Thanks again.
