Total Failure With Firefox - Help Pse!

 HAVE ALREADY POSTED, BUT THOUGHT I'D START A NEW THREAD ON THIS IN THE HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP.

 FIREFOX IS DRIVING ME NUTS - THOUGHT I'D HAVE A GO AFTER READING ALL YOUR COMMENTS. AFTER WHAT APPEARED TO BE A SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION AND THEN CLICKING ON THE FIREFOX DESK TOP ICON, I KEEP GETTING A GOOGLE.CO.UK SEARCH BOX  - WHERE AM I GOING WRONG :exclamati:confused: ? HAVE TRIED INSTALLING IT THROUGH VARIOUS LINKS SHOWN BY OPS AND SAME THING HAPPENS :o.

I'VE ALREADY ADMITTED TO BEING A USELESS TECHNOPHOBE, BUT THIS TAKES THE BISCUIT :embarasse :embarasse :embarasse , ESPECIALLY AFTER EVERYONE SAYS HOW EASY IT IS!

UTTERLY HUMILIATED.

if you need to set your own homepage type in the address and wait for page to load ,
then open the tools>.option and then click use current page >ok, you can have multiple home pages , just open up as many as you need and do as above .

  • :embarasse Thanks everyone, didn't know I was 'shouting' - well not online anyway, my profuse apologies, see I learn something new on this forum every day. I was just so frustrated, I forgot to take my caps lock off and couldn't be ar**ed to retype. Well had my dinner and am much calmer now - full stomach and all that.

Gooner  I think my home page is set to BT Yahoo, how Google got in is beyond me, ok deep breath now and I will start again and give it a go and post the result.

  • Your home page may well be Yahoo if you where using Internet Explorer. Google is Firefox's default search engine so thats why you get a google search box. Google is far better than Yahoo so no need to change anything ;)
Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best

Just because it's free don't mean it's good

    Ditch Norton Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall:

Just Because you read it some where don't mean it's right ;)
  • If you click on FILE > IMPORT then you can transfer all your Internet Explorer settings (home page, bookmarks etc) to Firefox

Don't give up on Firefox it's easier to use, and more secure than IE
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

Tools > Options > Main to set what homepage you'd like.

It's dead easy, give Firefox a chance!

The long white box at the top is the address bar, the shorter one to the right of it is the quick search which often is defaulted to Google.
