Radon sump noise - is it normal?

Hi all,
We have just had a radon sump with a fan fitted on an external wall. They've done a very neat job, but we can hear a fairly loud continuous 'air rushing' noise in the room the other side of the wall. Is this normal and if so is there anything we can do about it?
Thanks for your help.
