Quick question on behalf of a dear friend.
He's got refunds for car insurance, breakdown cover, TV licence and broadband subscription.
Where does he add/declare them for iht ?
Thanks.

He's got the refund personally, or the estate has got a refund and he's received the refund as executor?BlueJuly said:Quick question on behalf of a dear friend.

Is IHT actually payable on the estate?Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
IHT is definitely due on the estate.
The refunds were sent as cheques in his name.0 -
They would go down as debts owed to the estate, so schedule IHT416 will be required.0

Currently ploughing through this myself. I think IHT416 is for formal loans. Things like refunds from utilities etc. go down in box 76 of IHT400. It's on page 49 of the Guide.

Was asking if the refund from Self Assessment (for the deceased) is also recorded in the same box.
Is he correct?0
