Home insurance legal cover

I am progressing a public liability claim so have enquired about using the legal cover I purchased with my house insurance. My insurers have come back saying they want to use a no win no fee solicitor, but i would still have to pay the £250 excess if my insurance had to pay for anything, such as medical report, if it couldnt be recouped.
Im wondering whether i should then not go through my insurers and employ my own no win no fee solicitor, on the basis of potentially not paying £250 excess and paying direct any disbursements that were not recoverable. and maintaining my no claims record of decades. (I did think very cheeky of my insurance to use no win no fee as a large chunk of any settlement, if i win which is likely, would go to the no win no fee solicitor... and moreover, it seems to completely defeat the point of paying for legal cover insurance, with such a high excess). Any thoughts at all?

Have they advised that the no win, no fee solicitor would recoup their costs from your claim?
Maybe the insurer would cover the cost of their fee from their coffers and not deduct a percentage of your claim. It'd be worth absolutely confirming they intend to claim it from you before proceeding, as like you say, it does defeat the purpose of having it.1 -
Very good point Weighty1... Ill double check that now. :-)0
