Shower Not Blocked but Stinks!

The gurgling you report makes me think the pipes are partially blocked with hair and the sort of fatty deposits that build up from soap. Have you tried using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar then washing down with a few kettles of boiling water? I find it works better than various cleaning products on the market that state they're for this purpose. I don't have a separate shower, just a shower over the bath, but notice if I don't do the bicarb, vinegar boiling water thing for a few weeks, I hear gurgling and notice that the bathroom basin is slower to empty & not as fragrant as I would like.1
