Morning all, the builder has arrived, so my kettle will be red hot today ! Seems he has had the D&V virus that's sweeping the schools, caught from his 2 young boys.
Yesterday I was busy cleaning the spare bedroom, then sorting and tidying the craft drawers, again. Next I had a mad decluttering moment, even though I'd been through the spare room before, I still found stuff I really didn't need or want and filled a cs bag. Clumsy Clara struck again too when I smashed a glass to smithereens, which was later followed by me knocking a full cup of coffee all over the kitchen worktop ! 😱 The kitchen had to be cleaned twice 😕
I too had a stuffed up nose and coughing last night which kept waking me up, but I think it may be from the tree pollen ( doesn't normally start till the end of April though and strangely I don't suffer as much with hay fever) or some of the dust I chased around yesterday. I have some little jobs to do today, like washing the water filter jug and changing the filter, baking a loaf, lifting a border plant that doesn't look too happy etc , and lots of shredding as I found a wallet full of my late MIL's paperwork. Best make a start I suppose, give me a push please.
Coxy oh dear, hope your symptoms are mild. Look after yourself.
Hugs to anyone in need and especially the poorly ones and their families.
Take care all

Morning all..OH helped with supper last night, I was amazed and very happy! He measured and choppped and grated stuff..Is this the start of him learning how to cook? I won't get my hopes up...I made enough bits to have the same tonight, got the reduced chicken mince out of the freezer and just cooked it like it came [ pre-seasoned, Heck stuff] and had it with peppers and onions and this salsa verde I got from LaTiendita last year, verdict, very very spicy, just the thing to clean your tubes out. I ordered more
I've also sown tomatilloes this year, the seeds are about ten years old though so I'm not certain they'll do anything, if not, I'll just get some more. When I did use to grow them, they were simpe, two bushes and away they went so....Got nothing planned for today either, a lot of snotting into hankies and hurting ribs from coughing is on the cards. And brng the washing in from yesterday.
Coxy, so sorry, it's no fun..And it doesn't seem to come up positive unless you're really into the beginning of it. I felt rubbish for a few days beforehand but was testing negative. Izzy, are you sure it's a cold? Get well soon! Ruby, well done for stepping up. Is there anyone who can help him with this stuff in the future? social care type stuff? Poor thing, he must be so shocked as well, as you all....Gers, enjoy Cyrano! Scarlet, the NHS are completley on the ball for the most part aren't they? snoozer, glad they're on the ball for you too! YL, thanks, I did..Nanny, good to hear you won't be doing circus acts in the bedroom any more! Take care of yourselves all, hoping Nels and NRA are doing as OK as they can....

Oh no Coxy hope you don't feel too bad
I've just been to the doctor - she says she's not supposed to say it's Long Covid till I've been ill for 12 weeks - it's been 10 now - but it is. I took a list of all my symptoms - 17 in all. I've got blood tests tomorrow morning and have to arrange a chest Xray for next week. Other than that it's just a case of take it easy and stay off work....she says hopefully I'll start to improve in the next few weeks.
She's a lovely doctor - the best in our practise. She only works 3 days a week though so it's difficult to get an appointment with her.
Well, I'm going to make myself a nice cuppa x14 -
Coxy, I hope you don't feel too bad.
dp1, I'm sorry about your diagnosis but it seems as if your GP is willing to help, I hope something can be done for you.7 -
A late one from me today, I've been out enjoying the good weather while it lasts. It was lovely being outside without wearing a coat and wearing shoes instead of boots.
I did my usual weekly walk to the Co-op and saw more signs of Spring on the way - catkins, flowering currant bushes, primulas, some daisies and the ever present dandelions are already blooming. We seem to have a lot of blackbirds this year - makes a change from magpies and wood pigeons - and they've been singing their hearts out since early morning. A couple of store cupboard bargains went in my basket - a jar of tikka masala sauce (normal price £2, on promo at £1.25, used a 50p membership offer so final cost was 75p) and a branded pack of spaghetti on clearance (down from £1.75 to 44p) that has a bbe date of Jun 24. Couple of others bits, total spend £2.86, so I'm happy with that. I took with me a bag of clothes for the SA clothing bank collection container and a bag of soft plastics for the recycling bin, so more bits out of the house.
Dinner tonight is hm chicken & mushroom pie from the freezer, mash and swede. I'm doing extra mash so I can make some potato cakes for the freezer - they're always handy and cost just pennies, unlike shop bought ones.
Not particularly impressed with Rishi's Spring statement yesterday but, as I wasn't expecting anything, I wasn't disappointed to get nothing. Water rates bill arrived this morning with just a small increase of £10.10 pa. Sadly, we can't have a water meter installed but instead have an assessed bill, although I'm sure we'd pay less if we did have a meter. Ah well, it is what it is.So sorry to hear you’ve had bad news, nmlc.
Enjoy your trip to Glasgow and Cyrano, Gers.
Sorry your appointment at the opticians brought bad news, snoozer, but three cheers for the NHS’s quick response.
Enjoy your weekend away, Ruby. The break from everything that’s going on for you right now will do you good.
Bad luck Coxy, I hope it’s only a mild dose.
Glad the doc told you to rest and stay off work, dp1.
Commiserations to those enduring colds and hay fever. X
