Is this Enstroga email I received a scam or is it real?
I've received an email from Enstroga regarding my final bill, I'm being asked to make payment into their bank account, but my direct debit is still active, is this normal? The payment is only for £18.70 in total, but I don't want to get caught out by a scam? I've only just found the email, I wanted to update my metre readings and couldn't remember who I was with. I have no problem paying the bill, I just want to know it's not a scam and my bank will be wiped out. TIA

So does the bill, ie the meter reads and amounts given, agree with what you know? Enstroga customers were moved to EonNext. Have you heard from them?1

Ignore anything from Enstroga they went bust 29th September 2021. Any credits or debits due will be taken on by EON Next who I presume have been in contact with you since then?1

Looks like a scam to me, poor English. As another poster said any money owed would be collected by your new supplier0

I personally wouldn't give money to an email link.It might be worth checking your old supplier's website; it may have some details there; I was with PurePlanet (https://purepla.net/) and its site recommends contacting the new supplier (Shell in my case):So I'd suggest asking your new supplier; if nothing else, to make sure you've shown sincerity.
I owe Pure Planet money for energy used while on supply with you — do I still need to pay this?
Yes, if you have a debit balance with Pure Planet, this still needs to be paid. If you don’t pay what you owe, your account may be transferred to a Debt Collection Agency.
You can still make a one-off payment by calling McLaren Credit Services, who are collecting debt on our behalf. You can get in touch with them on 0333 344 3604. Please note, this team won’t be able to help answer any other questions — we’d recommend getting in touch with Shell Energy for this.
It'd be worth checking any links in the email to see if they're dodgy (hover your mouse over them). As far as the requested HSBC account goes, does it match what's in the existing Direct Debit instruction?

A search on the sort code and account number doesn't bring up any link to Enstroga, so that's a red flag. As marcia_notes, the poor English and strange wording doesn't inspire confidence.I'd treat it as a scam unless there is good reason not to do so. Did the email include your name, address and account number?0

OP - Was it accompanied by a fully detailed bill.??0

I had emails from Zog demanding me to settle a debt when they went bust. I d been with EDF for quite a months and was waiting to see what start reading they were using to check myself If I owed Zog anything. Eventually I checked the Zog website which was still online and could see by the readings on the billing section that I did actually owe roughly that figure £60 so I paid up.
Without Zogs website still being active I would not have paid anything without EDF s start reading being displayed
So is Enstoga s website still up and running to check if you actually owed anything when they went bust ?0
