Does anyone have an Asus ROG Strix laptop ?

My 17inch model is one whose cover logo lights up, whereas, according to internet forums, lower end models have no light.
I charged the laptop up, with no problem, but noticed that the charger had no on/off switch and no indicator light. My charger has a large logo , but it doesn't light up.
From this I wondered whether it should light, but could find no details online and no image via YouTube. I tried the Asus customer service but it seems to charge 5p a minute and chat would only respond, outside of set questions' but that required registration, which happened to be unavailable.
This made me approach John Lewis, the retailer, who should be your first port of call, I believe, so I called today.
I didn't want to make a warranty claim, as those for a non-faulty item are penalised. I simply wanted to know if the charger for my model should light up the ROG logo, but the young man insisted that I ring Asos to find out, despite my saying that I'd prefer John Lewis to call for me. He said they had special numbers, not available to the public and quoted one for me to try.
The line was very difficult as it started mumbling options while you were keying in a number and a second try resulted in choosing6, where the woman could not be heard and cut me off. I found later , that the number was the public one charging and the options named pieces of equipment and no laptops. (if I am charged, I'll contact JL's CEO.)
I called John Lewis and got a lady on a clear line. She was general customer service for electrical goods, but said she didn't think it should light and that it was OK if it charged. I said I thought otherwise, as it could have a loose wire which could cause problems. She went to ask her supervisor who said he was almost sure it should not light, but I wanted to know for certain and all they needed to do was contact a store and ask about any display model's charger, but she insisted her boss new best and suggested I call Asus.
What a run round and John Lewis are supposed to have good customer service.
Sorry for the mutterings, but if anyone has this laptop, which has light up logo on the lid, could they inform me about the lit up (or not) charger, please, please, please ?

Thank you for trying to help, but the setup in the article is a 15", whose range is different from the 17". My lid cover does have a light up logo, but my charger is the problem.0

You'll know if the charger is working by plugging it into the laptop? (I have an ASUS laptop - FX505GT - and there's no lighting on the charger or charger plug).
