Evro gone bust received letter from debt agency
Options
Hi
Wondered if anyone could advise. 2018 I moved from avro to another provider they sent me a final bill of £93, I was paying £59 a month by DD and I sent readings regularly. I moved to my new provider and I received a call from avro and an email saying I owe close to £500 and needed to settle the bill. Firstly I wouldn't have been allowed to move providers if I was in any debt with my new provider. Before I closed the account it was in positive money and thought they owed me money and then when I got final bill it all of sudden jumped to another figure. I just paid as I thought they needed to round it up the month before and month we were in. Once I'd paid they sent another bill for £500. I emailed and called and asked them to prove I owed that amount, as this amount wasn't on the online portal I had access to and how could they estimate so badly my usage despite my regular readings. I never heard despite me asking for complaints procedure.
Fast forward 2 years and I now have a debt letter asking for £500 within 7 days. I have called and left voicemails and emailed to no avail. I don't want a black mark against our credit as we are getting a mortgage soon. So what do I do???
Has anyone got any advice?faced this before? Any tips? Thanks in advance.

Do you owe them the money ?You need to work it out, I assume you have all the old bills and readings ?1

I had paid their final bill they gave me of 93 pounds and I don't think I owe them that much. But surely its a debt of over 12months and they've sent me a final bill which I've never seen before as all the bills and readings were held in their portal which I can't access any longer. I've called cab and tomorrow OFGEM.0

And also Ofgem won't help regarding a supplier that's gone bust. They are no longer an energy supplier, so Ofgem's rules no longer apply.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
