Martin said that if you have the old style pre payment electric meters you could put on up to £249 before 31st March and it would be charged at the lower rate.
ie : as long as it’s paid for before 31st March you would get it at the cheaper rate even if the electric is being used after.
so if you put £249 on the key and loaded that onto the meter and then put another £249 on the key ready for when it ran out would that also be at the cheaper rate ?

Is the rate determined at point of sale in the shop or at the point you load it onto the meter ?

It was originally suggested and think a few suppliers are trying to worm themselves out by giving wrong information on how customers get charged.
It should be one rule for one across the industry and not the sly suppliers like Scottish Power finding ways around it.1 -

It should be one rule for one across the industry and not the sly suppliers like Scottish Power finding ways around it.With respect, this is a case of 'sly customers' exploiting a loop-hole...The suppliers would be entitled to estimate the use and bill accordingly, but historically the vast majority of them have not decided to do that as it would be a mostly manual effort and not worth their time, but on the other-hand the motivation is strong when people make national announcements about how to do it etc.
