The only thing fixed are the prices per kWh and SC, the more you use the more you pay it's not an all you can eat tariff where you pay a set amount per month no matter how much electric and gas you use
But not on this tariff, as reading the thread would have confirmed. The point about "more you use, more you pay" has also already been raised several times but is not relevant to the OP as that is not their complaint.

Sorry if that wasn't clear I of course would expect to pay for what I use but it needs to be at the rate I signed up for which if was not my rate had gone up more than 4 x on both gas and electricity

  • Hi,

I seem to have the same problem, back in July 2021 we had a Octopus Energy Sales rep knock on our door and had us move over to them from our current fixed deal at the time with Shell as the tariff from Octopus was better and fixed until September 2023 so I thought great and we made the switch.

A few months ago Octopus seemed hell bent on increasing my Direct Debit which made me to start looking at our energy use because being on a "fixed" tariff made me think that could be the only reason for it needing to go up. To my surprise I find that since the very start of switching to Octopus energy they have billing us on a variable tariff and not the "Fixed" tariff we signed up for and have all the contract confirming as such.

I contacted Octopus over 6 weeks ago and have been battling with them since that's after 4 weeks of them ignoring us and a tweet to get their attention made them reply. They are now adamant we are not on a fixed tariff and that will we accept a £50 customer service gesture from them to settle the matter!.

Below is the contract we signed and to me it screams fixed tariff, is anyone else able to confirm

Have a read of this thread:

     https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6304465/fixed-price-deal-tariff-being-increased/p1

It wasn't a fixed rate tariff but some have obtained compensation as they were not provided with the full details.
