I’m with Bristol energy and they want bust the end of January I have not had any contact from them or from British Gas. I want to move supplyer but can’t until they contact me. Do I stop the DD to hurry them up? How long are they allowed to keep me waiting?

Welcome to the forum.

Never cancel a DD while still an ongoing customer..  At best you'll be switched to a more expensive tariff, at worst it'll be debt collectors and a trashed credit rating.

Try providing BG with your details.

You're probably best staying on the SVT you're currently on right now so I wouldn't feel too put out that you can't easily switch supplier right now. Unless you have specific requirements like charging an electric vehicle or you have solar panels.

If that is a DD to Bristol Energy, then yes, you can stop that, but no it will not have any impact on British Gas so will not encourage them to speed up.

No, there are no limits on how long they have to get everything sorted out for you.

Do check who is currently shown as your supplier though as it may have already switched to British Gas...
