A bit of background - non Smart meter, fixed DD, economy 7 with partial electric heating & approx. 65% of annual usage at night rate. I used to provide meter readings for billing in months 1, 4, 7 and 10, and this has been the case for year. Eon decided last summer to change this, requesting a meter reading in month 9, September. Fair enough, no problem with that, and meter reading supplied, and another requested and supplied in month 12, as expected for the new cycle of 3, 6, 9 & 12.

So, I was expecting another request for a meter reading this month. Nothing so far, so I thought I would check my account online. It seems they don't want a meter reading this month, in fact it says that they don't expect a reading until July 31st!

Now, when a tariff changes mid billing cycle, Eon normally pro-rata the usage over the two different tariffs during the billing period. As my usage is considerably higher during the winter, are Eon pulling a fast one here, trying to shunt some of the winter usage into the new 50+% higher cap rate?

Something to watch out for. I will be providing readings this month, whether they like it or not!

Regardless of what a supplier asks I give readings every month - and keep my own records.

The old boys - Eon, Edf and co - really are lagging behind the times with their 6 monthly cycles and bills. How difficult can it be to bill upon receipt of a reading ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I've been on a 3 month billing cycle since I first bought a house 30-odd years ago. Suddenly, they don't want a 3 monthly reading... It all seems a bit odd to me.

If Ofgem were any good they'd insist on monthly billing and make Variable Direct Debit the default (with Fixed Direct Debit always an option for those unable or unwilling to do their own budgeting).
