Bereavement and OVO Energy
My dad sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago and I'm In the process of informing all the necessary people and institutions and one of the last to do is his gas and electric.
Does anyone have experience of dealing with OVO with this and what is likely to happen? He was on a fixed tariff ending in August, are they likely to allow us to keep running that tariff or will they start charging the full variable, or indeed the price capped rate going forward?

Can you log in and just update the DD details?0

Why should the surviving members of the family household be penalised because their father has died?shiraz99 said:
Wouldn't that essentially be fraud, ie, taking over the payment of an account whilst pretending the account holder is still alive?Gerry1 said:Can you log in and just update the DD details?0 -
The executor of the will would still have to pay the bill until the house is sold or lease terminated.0

I get that but there's going to be a massive difference between paying the bill at the current tariff's terms and price capped variable price from April 1. Hence why I'm asking what Octopus are likely to do once they've been informed. FYI, I'm the executor.Flight3287462 said:The executor of the will would still have to pay the bill until the house is sold or lease terminated.0 -
I'm sorry to read of the passing of you father.
Is anyone going to be living in the house where your Dad did in the immediate future?0 -
