Multiskilled handyman is more likely £50-100 per hour. Electricians, plumbers, and other building trades are going for £150-250 or more.

I don't know where you live, but a plumber or electrician trying to charge up to £2000 per day wouldn't get much work round here.  Likewise a jobbing handyman trying to charge £800 per day.

Depends on the type and size of post too, a nice planed one, for painting would cost more than a sawn fence type post.
I have just priced some fence posts this week, a 75x75x1800 treated sawn  post is £5.67  here at present.

Sorry, major brain f**t today. Building trades should have been day rate, not per hour.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

That's more like it :D  My brother-in-law is a jobbing builder able to do everything except gas and electrics, and he charges £20 per hour.  We keep telling him he should increase that a bit but he's a soft touch!
