Firstly, they did not request that you declare pre-existing conditions until HALF the cooling-off period had expired. Secondly, they did not warn you what would happen if you delayed sending them that declaration.

Having said that, if I had any pre-existing conditions I would never accept a quotation and pay for insurance until my conditions had been declared and noted on the policy.

Secondly, up until the point when they asked you to pay the extra, you did not know what this insurance was going to cost you.

I would argue that the fourteen day cooling-off period should have begun when you received the revised quote.

If your complaint to them is not upheld I think you should refer it to the Insurance Ombudsman service.
  • Sorry to say if youd read the policy document when you booked the insurance you would have seen this

"You will not be covered under this policy for any claims arising directly or indirectly from a pre-existing medical condition unless it has been declared to us and accepted by us in writing for cover. Call us on 01293 665904, to declare your pre-existing medical condition and confirm if cover is available."

So definitely not a con. Having just paid £284 for holiday insurance due to preexisting conditions for 2 people going to Cyprus[ NOT to jet2,] I may add. I think you got off lightly.

That depends entirely on the nature and extent of any preexisting medical condition(s).
