Detergent question ..

I noticed that many people use washing powder rather than liquid detergent in their washing machines , as apparently liquid detergent causes problems in the long run .

i intend to heed the advice . However , what about clothes conditioner ? Imho clothes do feel better with conditioner .
Horses for courses etc 🐎🏇

Could someone recommend the best way forward ?

Thanks in advance ..

Which?  test powders and liquids and so far they have published nothing about liquids causing problems.
  • Looks like I may have started a mini soap opera now 😼
I saw a few posts about people having trouble with their washing machines ( can't remember which now ) ,and posters were saying the liquids leave sticky deposits and could damage parts internally .

It seems I'm wrong and misread , so blame it on the sunshine 🌝

I have used liquids for ages with no issues. I did find that some powders left a funny feel on clothes, almost as if they hadn't dissolved properly.

I've never used powder in my 22yr old Bosch WM, always liquid, and it hasn't been an issue.

If you're worried about residue then pop about 10-20ml of white vinegar into your fabric conditioner dispenser. This also, surprisingly, works as a softener.

I have noticed that my new machine leaves  a sticky mess in the conditioner compartment and bits of powder.
That's life. Stuff doesn't seem to improve.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Liquid capsules straight into the drum and white vinegar instead of softener.

Is that when using short wash cycles @Penguin_ ?
Short cycles don't necessarily give powder, or pods/capsules/tabs time to dissolve.

I've changed from using short cycles to the Eco (but very long) cycles.  They do seem to wash and rinse better while allegedly using less electrickery

Normal washes, mind that could be because I wash at 40 deg.
