Has anyone been successful in getting a Covid Recovery Certificate for a teen-ager in Scotland?

We're travelling to Spain and he needs to be double jabbed to be vaccinated but he only has one vaccine due to having Covid when the first one was due.

If we can get a Covid Recovery Certificate we don't need to pay privately for a PCR but he is not old enough to get the NHS Scotland app and the helpline are saying they don't issue them, speak to GP, and GP are saying they don't issue them, speak to helpline.

you would possibly need to go down the private route. I have seen Medicspot mentioned but there will be many others.
  • GPs up here don't have any administrative control - it's all NHS Scotland.

A private recovery pass may cost more than the PCR test.

Dates, timescales and his age will all be important in finding how best to proceed.

Does he have time to get his second vaccination before going?

He is 14 and no he doesn't have time to get his second vaccine as there has not been 12 weeks since his first vaccine.

I'd say paying for a PCR is your best bet then...

I think you will have to pay somone - Either a private GP for a Covid Recovery Certificate, or a pre-departure PCR test. Even if a your NHS GP Practice was offering the service, I'd expect them to charge.

With the PCR route, you'll only get the result 3 days prior to departure. So if you wanted some more certainty you could get a private PCR done now to see if you get a negative result and determine whether you are going to need the Covid Recovery Certificate.

Sadly that is the reality of travel in these current times.

    Did you get this sorted?

We are in same position.  Travelling to Spain next week, child isn't fully vaccinated so need covid recovery certificate or pcr taken.

The NHS covid status site says a covid recovery record can be requested for under 16s from 1st April - no use as we travel on 5th.

The covid status helpline have not been helpful at all or I guess there isn't anything they can do.  I asked if this will be a letter or an email to download - I can't wait for a letter as I don't have time.  They say they dont know but expect it to be by post.

On the covid status site it does say the email/text showing positive pcr test may be used for international travel, but I am still to find someone who has shown it!  Another forum I was on say it must be a certificate!

We haven't left yet but we've now purchased an online PCR test that will be completed and returned before we go later this week.
We also heard that the email showing positive pcr test would suffice but imagine turning up at the airport and being told it's not enough.
