Then all you need to do is check that it matches with the actual meter.
- The opening meter reading;
- The closing meter reading;
- The number of kilowatt-hours billed for?

and check the serial number on the meter and on the bill.
A photo of the meter would helpNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2 -
Thanks, I'll go and take a photo of the meter tomorrow and post it with a picture of the bill - really appreciate everyone's help with this.4

This is my mum's meter, the serial number corresponds to her bill.
Obviously the meter's metric, so how do I tell if they're billing her correctly? Should I be able to see a conversion calculation on the bill (which I can't) if BG were charging her for imperial units?0 -
Your bill will show the calculation. If it has the figure of 2.83 in it she's being overcharged, otherwise it's OK.However, it seems that BG haven't heard of Imperial meters !1

Should I be able to see a conversion calculation on the bill (which I can't) if BG were charging her for imperial units?Just give us the opening and closing readings from the last bill along with the kWh they calculated and we can do the rest...In short, if you take the units consumed and multiply by 11.2 you should get very close to the kWh figure on the bill ...If it is about 2.83x higher on the bill than that number then they are treating it as Imperial and you've found the problem...

Apoligies for the picture quality, but does this look correct?

Unfortunately the conversion is correct.However, note the rate change from 13 January. Was she persuaded to switch to a fixed tariff?2

I would say that the December reading was an under estimate - when the January bill came it was a catch up at the SVT rate.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
