Scottish Power retention Fixed Price Offer

I think it was totally unethical of Scottish Power to have called me just a few minutes ago re my electricity package. I am still on a decent fix till end of April. Then I will move onto the variable cap at circa 28p per unit.
Charlatan on the phone offering a 1 year fix at 55p per unit. In what possible circumstances could that be beneficial to me I ask him ?
No answer.
Even simple maths means the cap would need to go up over 200% in October.
How many people will get taken in by these phone cowboys.

Agreed, it's disgraceful. Vulnerable folk may believe these cowboys are looking out for them.0

Whilst I agree with sentiments of your post, I make difference between 28p and 55p ish a 100% increase

You need to factor in paying the two different cap prices for 6 months each though.bristolleedsfan said:superbigal said:

The 200% figure is likely to be an overestimate since I bet the fix has a lower standing charge (based on the SP fixes I've seen), and more electricity is likely to be used in winter than summer.0
