Does claiming on gadget insurance affect contents insurance premium?

Hi all,
I've just had a conversation with my home contents insurer about including gadget insurance on it, to reduce monthly outgoings.
I mentioned to them that I had claimed on my separate gadget insurance before taking out the policy with them and as a result they have increased my premium as I have made a loss & accidental damage claim in the last 5 years. I was under the impression that because I have not made the claim on my home insurance it would not effect my insurance premium, they are saying it does.
Any help confirming either way would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You have suffered a loss the likes of which you are now seeking to insure with them, so it is probably right that they take that into account.0

Most insurers as about claims or incidents and so even if not claimed on your home insurance you need to declare it as an incident. Plus you cannot pick and choose what you insure in your home and so you will have to have the items insured on your Home policy whilst they are in the home anyway... you can choose not to insure them out your home and use the gadget insurance for that (but still have to declare incidents)0
